AN EXPLANATION OF GICLEE' PRINTING
PRONOUNCED (JHEE-CLAY)

The printing process involves squirting microscopic dots of ink onto fine quality paper or canvas. On paper, the inks are actually absorbed slightly and blend to create fine art reproductions that are often difficult to distinguish from the originals.

Giclee' typically represents an elevation in printmaking technology. Images are high resolution digital scans printed with quality inks onto various substrates and provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction.

Giclee's are also called "digital prints" or "inkjet prints" because of the new techniques and equipment used to produce the image. These are fast becoming one of the most acceptable methods of fine art reproduction and are considered highly acceptable prints by collectors and galleries alike.
